You work hard, my darling Diva, and therefore you deserve to get a little spa time into your life. You know, perhaps more than anyone, how our lives quickly run off the rails leaving us railroaded with responsibilities, requirements, RSVPS, and no time for R&R.
We’ve gotta remember that our bodies DO need rejuvenation. I suggest you get back to your Greek roots (real or perceived) and get thyself to a Sanus Per Aquam (S-P-A) regularly. Spa time should be essential maintenance just like a mani-pedi or a Brazilian. You can schedule something local for regular maintenance and then think about an annual getaway that gets you a two-for-one vacation/relaxation experience.
Here are four spa trips you can’t afford to miss:
Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic
Beginning with Emperor Charles IV in the 14th century, health seekers have been dipping into the advantages that the hot springs have sprung in this Czech town, whose name literally means “Charles Spring.” Karlovy Vary is known for its leading spa treatments that are often prescribed in regimens from one to three weeks. The treatments include drinking the cleansing thermal mineral water, hiking, massages, and sauna. From luxury hotels to sanatorium baths to therapeutic complexes, you’ll find an offering that is to your liking and rejuvenating needs. To get started with your planning, check Frommers Spa Facilities and Trip Advisor’s 10 Best Karlovy Vary Spa Resorts of 2018.
Mii Amo Spa – Sedona, Arizona
Let Sedona’s desert heat melt away all the tension that is trying to take over your body, and at the same time, you’ll benefit from something else pretty fabulous there. If you haven’t heard, Sedona, Arizona, has some major vortexes (or vortices, depending on whom you ask) that have harmonious healing energy. Balance seekers set healing intentions and plan pilgrimages to this powerful area, full of resorts and spas. They embark upon meditative hikes coupled with massages and even aura readings. Check out Mii Amo Spa. It was rated #2 as a destination spa by Travel + Leisure magazine, and Conde Naste Traveler and others rated it a top resort in the southwest.
Korean Day Spas – LA and NY
With LA’s 24/7 Wi Spa, you have no excuse not to get your shell-shocked body to this luxurious wellness spa for a massage, a Korean-style soak in a hot or cold bath, or signature mineral saunas. Whether for an hour or all day, you can get away and get back to you. Premier57 in midtown Manhattan has some five-star offerings, from infrared saunas for postflight tiredness to igloos for ice-cold toning and restoration after heat-based sessions; and their 24K-Gold Luxe package with body wraps, massages, and a facial with (Yep, you guessed it) G-O-L-D. We Care Spa – Desert Hot Springs, California
The We Care Spa has been on my bucket list ever since my friend Cheryl returned GLOWING after a week there. I mean literally G-L-O-W-I-N-G! The We Care Philosophy of Whole Health is based on four key components: Prefast, Detox, Treatment, and Classes. They give what they call “healing installations” and approach your healing holistically. “As such we have permanent installations that are not only unique and beautiful, but also enhance your detoxification and spiritual well-being.” The tony 17-room spa offers three, six, and eight-day programs that always begin and end on a Sunday or Friday. The plans are inclusive of colonics and digestive release massages. And when I think I can handle detox juicing for eight straight days, I’m booking my spot. Because I wanna glow, too, Cheryl! I wanna glow, too.
